Delicious blackened salmon with a spicy-sweet seasoning rub is baked to perfection before being paired with a creamy, zesty sauce made with Greek yogurt, horseradish, lemon and herbs.
Jump to RecipeI am so excited to bring you this recipe- it’s so nostalgic for me! My dad made a version of this sauce everytime he made salmon when I was growing up. It is so flavorful and seriously pairs perfectly with the blackened salmon.
Another reason I’m thrilled to bring this recipe to your kitchen is because of the opportunity to work with Kvaroy Arctic, an incredible salmon company. Thank you, Kvaroy Arctic, for sponsoring this blog post!
Let Me Introduce Kvaroy Arctic…
Kvaroy Arctic is a sustainable farmed-salmon company from Norway. They are working everyday to change the seafood industry, and I’m so happy to share their brand with you so that you can support them, too.
Kvaroy Arctic has numerous farming practices that reduce their carbon and water footprint lower than other farmed or wild salmon producers. Most of us know that sustainable practices are not always the easiest route for a business to take. But Kvaroy does it because it’s the right thing to do.
And don’t even get me started on the salmon… omg. You must try it for yourself to know what I mean. Kvaroy salmon has double the amount of omega-3’s as other farmed salmon. The color is naturally a gorgeous orange, from the carotenoid found in algae and krill. Plus- the flavor is UNBEATABLE. I am truly obsessed with this fish and brand!
You can visit the Kvaroy Arctic website here to learn all about this incredible company, and make sure to visit this page to shop!
How to Make the Blackened Salmon
Now, to the recipe! This recipe is so simple and easy to make, but you’d never believe it with how much flavor it has!
To make the blackened seasoning rub for the salmon, combine: 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp salt and ½ tsp black pepper. Stir the seasonings together to mix well.
Pat the Kvaroy Arctic fillets dry with a paper towel or dish towel, and rub a small amount of avocado oil on the fillets. Place in a baking dish and sprinkle the seasoning rub generously onto each fillet, gently pressing it into the fish.
Bake the salmon at 425 degrees fahrenheit for 10 minutes per 1-inch thickness of the fillets. If desired, broil on high for a minute or two at the end of cooking time.
Steps to Make My Dad’s Special Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together: 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp mayo, 1 tbsp horseradish, 1 tbsp fresh chopped dill, juice of ½ lemon and a pinch of salt & pepper.
When the salmon is done cooking, drizzle the sauce on top and enjoy!
