Oh hey!
I’m the girl behind Seasoned by Silvie.
I currently live in sunny Denver, Colorado with my husband, tabby cat & black golden retriever (yes, it’s a thing!).
My love of food has been a lifelong affair. Some of my earliest memories include sitting at the kitchen counter, watching my dad navigate around the kitchen (with a glass of red wine in hand, of course) and a record spinning & serenading us. I remember how amazed I was at how quickly he could whisk, dice and chop. How steady his hands were as he sifted flour. But most of all, I remember how taken care of and loved I felt when that plate of warm food was placed in front of me. And that’s how I want you to feel when you get to cook for yourself and loved ones.
I also care a lot about how the food we eat makes us feel. Food truly is medicine! A lot of my knowledge comes from my mom, who has been a practicing acupuncturist for over 20 years. She has instilled so many healthy habits in me, so you’ll definitely see my passion for health & wellness make an appearance on this blog, too.
As you can probably tell, I grew up eating amazing food, thanks to my mom and dad. When I went to college, it was quite the rude awakening. Without them there to cook for me, I knew I was either going to need to 1) learn to cook or 2) lower my standards… which clearly was just not an option! So, I started experimenting in the kitchen so that I could make the food I loved.
My style is home-cooked, balanced and has an emphasis on whole, real foods and ingredients. So, yes, sometimes I’m going to use butter. And sometimes quite a bit of it. Because really, how else would you make homemade alfredo?! But, my meals are also full of real ingredients that nourish me and my family. And just like my dad, I never forget my glass of red wine.
Food is our one universal love language. I hope this blog eliminates any fear of the kitchen and cooking that you may have, and not only inspires you to try my recipes, but to make them your own.
Cheers! Let’s get cooking.
P.S., I’d love if you’d follow along my daily happenings (aka lots of puppy videos) on Instagram and my recipes are super easy to find on Pinterest!
